Model capability is becoming easier to access. Product trust will increasingly come from how clearly an AI system handles sources, uncertainty, cost, action boundaries and approval.
Separate suggestion from authority
AI can retrieve, compare, summarize, draft and propose. Those abilities do not automatically grant permission to publish, spend, deploy, notify or change a controlled record.
Define the actions the AI may prepare, the actions it may execute and the actions that always require a named human decision.
Keep evidence and versions attached
A confident answer without source context is hard to review. A revised answer without version history is hard to audit. Governed products preserve the inputs, evidence, output, model run and decision that followed.
This is especially important when the output becomes a requirement, policy, release or professional recommendation.
Meter what the system consumes
AI execution has cost, latency and failure modes. Usage metering should be a product capability—not an infrastructure afterthought.
Teams need to understand which workflows create value, which consume excessive resources and when a bounded fallback should replace another model run.
What to carry forward
- Define AI action boundaries explicitly.
- Preserve source context and uncertainty.
- Version outputs and approval decisions.
- Measure usage, cost, failure and outcome together.
